So, an hour later, I had her flying with her full setup and to see the actual look of childlike joy on her face was something I will never forget. She was apprehensive at first, but I assured her that I knew what I was doing. So, I offered to setup her flight controls for her. I was just starting to heavily get into tech geekery at the time, and well was versed on all the tricks and steps needed to get games and hardware to run on DOS systems. So, my grandmother could play it, but only with the keyboard. So, needless to say, my grandfather couldn't do more than get the program installed. However, this was in the days of DOS and manually installing drivers, setting IRQs, editing the AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS to juggle XMS/EMS memory, etc. So, my grandfather bought it for her, and even got her a flight yoke and pedals to be just like her Cesna. Well, she heard from the other Cesna flyers in the share group about Microsoft Flight Simulator, and how it was great practice for the real thing. She had actually earned her pilots' license, and had a timeshare-like arrangement with a small Cesna at the local airfield. Well, my Grandmother had one love that was so different from the rest of her personality, and made her seem more. Well, anyways, my dad set them up with a 386 PC, to help my Grandfather stay organized with his taxes as well as the church office work he helped out with. Always at my best manners, and attentive and only speak when spoken to. So, when I had to stay with her, I had to pretend to be a perfect little christian boy. (Videogames, Rock Music, Skateboarding, etc.) (Which she didn't celebrate, and was vehemently against.) I was a standard kid, who enjoyed just about everything that my Grandmother would probably consider being from the Devil. (At least not intentionally, but he had his moments.) My grandparents lived far enough away that visiting them, was saved for a week over the summer, and maybe a 3-day around around Christmas time. Since, my dad was raised by her, he tried to never be that way with my sister and I. She was a devout and superstrict religious woman, who was very stern and strict in everything. We came from completely different worlds. My Paternal Grandmother and I were never really close. The views of the moderation team do not reflect the view of Microsoft or its subsidiaries.
